Benefits Summary For Full Time Employees

Cash Benefit Allowance

Halt, Buzas & Powell offers a cash benefit allowance of $5,000 per year, intended to pay for health insurance, but which may be used for any purpose, including an addition to regular salary.

Health Insurance

Halt, Buzas & Powell offers a comprehensive health insurance program to all full-time employees and their eligible family members, beginning with the first day of employment.

Dental Insurance

Halt, Buzas & Powell offers dental insurance to all full-time employees and their eligible family members. The plan covers a broad range of dental services. It is designed to encourage preventive care by including regular oral examinations and teeth cleanings.

Life Insurance

Employer paid life insurance (equal to your salary, up to $100,000).

Long-Term Disability

Upon total disability for 90 consecutive days because of a non-occupational illness or injury, the plan pays a monthly benefit of 60% of monthly earnings, subject to a maximum monthly benefit.

401(k) Profit Sharing Plan

Section 125 - Cafeteria Plan

Through Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code, employees may set aside tax-free dollars from their biweekly pay for medical and/or dependent care expenses.

Annual Leave

Employees may use annual leave for approved absences from scheduled work for vacation or other personal reasons. In addition, at the supervisor's discretion, an employee may charge annual leave in lieu of sick leave for medical absences.

Full-time and part-time employees earn annual leave according to years of service at Halt, Buzas & Powell, as follows:

Service Full-Time Employess Annual Leave
Up to 5 years 5 hours per pay period 120 hours (3 weeks)
Over 5 years 6.67 hours per pay period 160 hours (4 weeks)

Holiday Pay

Halt, Buzas & Powell policy is to provide paid holiday time to eligible employees. This is done in recognition of our national holidays and as an investment in the health and well-being of our employees. Halt, Buzas & Powell recognizes six (6) federal holidays and two (2) company designated holidays.

Comp Time

The purpose of the compensatory time program is to provide staff compensation for their efforts on behalf of the firm that exceed the norm. Comp time is defined as time worked in excess of the budgeted hours for a given quarter. Budgeted hours are defined to include both client chargeable hours and hours chargeable to certain administrative projects.

Comp Time will accrue in a separate comp time bank. Earned comp time may be accrued in the bank or paid within 30 days following the end of the quarter. Employees may elect to accrue up to a maximum of 80 hours. Any additional hours over the elected hours will be paid on a straight-time basis.

Client Commission Incentive Program

HB&P will provide commissions of 7% of first year receipts to all employees who bring new clients to the firm. New business referred from an existing client or firm contact will generate a 5% commission. Also, we will provide a 5% commission on business of a new discipline at existing clients.

Employee Referral Program

HB&P will pay any employee that refers a potential employee who is hired by our firm $1500, and will pay another $1500 if the referred employee stays with our firm for at least six months.

CPE

The firm will provide 40 hours of CPE per calendar year to each full time staff Accountant.

The firm reserves the right to provide some of the CPE courses "in house." All CPE will be subject to the approval of the partners.

Professional Organization Dues

The cost of professional organization dues shall be an item reimbursable to the staff member or paid directly by the firm, provided the staff member is actively involved in the organization.

Family Medical Leave

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 provides job security to eligible employees who are absent from work:

  1. for the birth, adoption or foster care of a child;
  2. to care for a spouse, child, or parent with a serious health condition; and/or
  3. for a personal serious health condition.

Under the FMLA, eligible employees may be absent from work for up to 12 weeks during any 12-month period and still be guaranteed their jobs upon return to work. The FMLA covers absences in consecutive weeks, on an intermittent basis, or as part of a reduced workday or work week.

Employee Recognition

The purpose of the Employee Recognition Program is to recognize and reward employees whose efforts greatly contribute to the success of Halt, Buzas & Powell. The examples they set and the results they attain inspire the respect and praise of their peers and management.

Awards are granted based upon performance, special service, beneficial suggestions, and years of Halt, Buzas & Powell service. Award recognition may be provided in the form of letters of commendation, memorandums of recognition and appreciation, certificates of recognition, cash awards or as part of the performance evaluation process and reflected in an individual's annual salary.

Employee Recreation

Social and recreational activities for employees are a part of the employee benefits program. The Employee Recreation Committee, comprised of employee volunteers from throughout the firm, handles the arrangements. Annual functions normally include a dinner dance, an after-tax party and a summer picnic. Other events are planned and scheduled by the committee throughout the year.

Paid Parking

Employer paid parking - an annual value of $1,500.
