JOHN STERNER, CPA JOINS HALT, BUZAS & POWELL, LTD AS TAX MANAGER

ALEXANDRIA, VA., August 5, 2009 –CPA and management consulting firm Halt, Buzas and Powell, Ltd., announced today that John Sterner has joined the firm as Tax Manager.

“John is a terrific addition to the firm and to our tax practice in particular. He has an impressive record of accomplishment for supervising staff and managing multiple complex engagements in a fast-paced environment. His accounting expertise and his passion for providing proactive tax advice will be of great value to our clients and our staff, as we continue our firm’s rapid growth,” said Managing Partner, Stephen Halt.

Mr. Sterner comes to Halt, Buzas & Powell from RSM McGladrey, where he demonstrated strong supervisory and management skills. He reviewed numerous returns and quarterly estimates for multi-state consolidated corporations, partnerships and high net worth individuals.” Prior to RSM McGladrey, John was a senior tax accountant with a Big Four accounting firm, and he was a technical specialist for a Fortune 500 company. John prepared the M-1 entries and state filing for a multi-state consolidation tax return.

Mr. Sterner earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and in Finance from George Mason University, and a Masters in Taxation from American University. John is a Certified Public Accountant, registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
