Accounting Firm Halt, Buzas & Powell Announces New Tax and Audit Manager and New Hires

ALEXANDRIA, Va., December 6, 2006 – Partners Steve Halt, Mike Buzas, and Andy Powell, of Halt, Buzas and Powell, welcomed four professionals to the accounting firm in December.

“Our firm continues to grow and expand, and to sustain our reputation for unrivaled client service we need to attract the best and the brightest,” said Steve Halt. “We are quite pleased that such accomplished and highly motivated individuals have joined the firm,” said Halt.

Jeff Webb joins the firm as Tax and Audit Manager. A graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a B.S. in accounting and a Certified Public Accountant, Webb has a wide range of experience in all facets of accounting, finance and staff management. He most recently served as Audit Supervisor for Joseph Decosimo and Company, LLC. He previously held positions as Accounting Manager for Prime Succession, Inc., Senior Manager for Fraley and Company, and Staff Accountant and Plan Administrator for Grant Thornton and worked for Star Bank as a computer operator. Webb served in the United States Marine Corps from 1976-1980.

Stephen Roberson, Accountant Staff 1, comes to HB&P from Chevy Chase Bank, where he held the posts of Portfolio manager and Assistant Vice President. Roberson earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Old Dominion University, a Masters of Business Administration from George Mason University, and will complete an Accounting Certificate from the University of Virginia in 2007. He was a Commissioned Officer, United States Marine Corps, from May 1996 – May 2005.

While continuing to work toward her Certified Public Accountant certificate, Rachel Edwards has joined HB&P’s Outsourced Accounting practice. Edwards comes to HB&P from Provident Bank of Maryland where she trained and mentored new tellers, processed transactions, and balanced the branch at close of business. She is majoring in Business Administration, specializing in Finance, at Northern Virginia Community College.

Joyce Alimusa will serve as the firm’s receptionist. She brings several years of customer service and office management experience to the position. She most recently worked as a Dental Assistant for Trung Ho, DDS, in Annandale Virginia.
