W. Andrew Powell Named Secretary/Treasurer of Alexandria Chamber of Commerce

ALEXANDRIA, VA, December 14 – W. Andrew Powell, partner-in-charge of the Accounting and Audit Practice for Halt, Buzas & Powell, has been named Secretary/Treasurer of the Alexandria, Virginia Chamber of Commerce.\

Mr. Powell brings over twenty years of auditing, operational and financial expertise in both large and small organizations. His expertise includes the auditing of both privately and federally funded organizations, in accordance with GAAS, Yellow Book, and various other Federal and state requirements. He is well versed in the budgeting process and the business practices, policies and procedures of closely held organizations. Mr. Powell's client background includes such organizations as Capitol Drywall, Inc., Nomadic Display, Inc., Millennium Marketing Solutions, Inc., and MicroPact Engineering, Inc.

Mr. Powell graduated with a BA in accounting from the University of Maryland. He is past Treasurer of the Odenton Heritage Society, Inc., and has served on various committees of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Powell is a member of the AICPA and the Maryland Association of CPA’s. He speaks at professional seminars on various matters.
