Partner Andy Powell to Direct Client Growth and Community Involvement in Prince George's County

BOWIE, Md., June 28 – Local accounting firm Halt, Buzas & Powell, Ltd. (HB&P) announces the opening of a new branch office in Bowie, Maryland. This opening marks a pivotal moment in HB&P's thirty-seven year history, as this office is the first branch office for the Alexandria based firm. The office will be located at:

"HB&P has experienced steady growth for the past several years, so the issue for us was not when to expand, but where," explained Managing Partner Steve Halt. "We view Prince George's County as a key growth area for our firm in the near and long-term future."

HB&P already serves a number of clients in Prince George's County. "Opening this office allows us to better serve our existing clients as well as strengthen our local presence across the entire Greater Washington region," explained Accounting and Audit Partner Andy Powell, who will be the partner-in-charge of the Bowie office.

"The area is experiencing rapid commercial growth, so we see lots of opportunities to expand our client base," added Mike Buzas, Partner and Practice Director of HB&P's Management Systems division.

"We will use our Maryland presence to attract and retain accounting talent. We've ramped up our recruiting efforts at the University of Maryland and are actively looking for professionals in the local region to join our firm and work close to home," said Powell.

HB&P has affiliated with the local Chambers of Commerce and plans to serve the Prince George's community with the same integrity and commitment as it has served the Alexandria business community for many years. Plans are also underway to bring HB&P's widely attended Semi-Annual Non-Profit Symposium series to Maryland this fall to deliver education and training to the associations and non-profit organizations in the region.
