WILLIAM J. WINTER, CPA JOINS HALT, BUZAS & POWELL, LTD

ALEXANDRIA, Va., September 11 – CPA and Management Consulting firm Halt, Buzas and Powell, Ltd. (HB&P) announced today that William J. Winter has joined the firm as Tax Supervisor.

“William is a terrific addition to the firm and to our tax practice in particular,” said Managing Partner Steve Halt. “He has an impressive track record of supervising staff and managing multiple complex engagements in a fast-paced environment. His accounting expertise and his passion for providing proactive tax advice will be of great value to our clients and our staff as we continue our firm’s rapid growth.”

Mr. Winter comes to HB&P from Grant Thornton, LLP, where he demonstrated strong supervisory and management skills. He prepared numerous returns for not-for-profit organizations, trusts, corporations, partnerships, and individuals; researched complex tax issues; trained groups of new hires and tax associates; developed not-for-profit and partnership tax compliance training materials; and directed the not-for-profit billing cycle.

Mr. Winter earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from the State University of New York at Old Westbury and a Master of Accountancy from George Washington University in Washington, DC. While a graduate student he clerked for a large government contractor and interned at an accounting firm where he researched tax issues, worked in the state and federal tax practice, and prepared federal tax returns. He is a Certified Public Accountant, registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
