Michael has over 13 years in public accounting performing audit, accounting and tax preparation services for closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, government contractors, local governments, and individuals.
As Audit Manager at Halt, Buzas & Powell, Michael spends the majority of his time managing audit and review engagements of privately held and federally funded nonprofit organizations including charitable entities, social welfare organizations, professional and trade associations, public interest organizations, educational and advocacy groups, healthcare and medical research organizations, scientific societies, and other membership groups and organizations receiving grants. Michael also manages audits and review engagements for government contractors, restaurant and real-estate companies.
Michael enjoys developing, mentoring and coaching staff accountants and maintaining productive and long-lasting relationships with our clients throughout the year. He has taught courses on various subjects, including requirements of OMB Circular A-133 audits and Statements on Auditing Standards.
Michael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Dyke College – Cleveland, Ohio and a Master of Science degree from The Johns Hopkins University - Baltimore, MD.
